Russian Olympian gymnasts to retire
It’s been a month since London Olympic Games finished and some champions have retired and some are still thinking over.
Two Olympic champions 2012 of Russia National Team in Rhythmic Gymnastics Uliana Donskova and Karolina Sevastianova have decided to retire professional sport career.
- Uliana Donskova and Karolina Sevastianova decided to retire,- says chief coach of Russia National Team in Rhythmic Gymnastics Irina Viner. Other girls are training as before. And there are many applicants for vacancies.
Let’s recall that Russian gymnasts won two golden and one silver medals.
Speaking about retirement, Eugenia Kanaeva is not going to follow the example of Donskova and Sevastianova. She claimed that she is not going to finish her career in the nearest future, but she hasn’t decided yet if she’ll prepare for Olymic Games in Rio-de-Janeiro.
- I’m not going to retire in the near future, - says Eugenia Kanaeva, - Though, it’s difficult to hold such high level for so long. Only Alina Kabaeva and Irina Chaschina succeeded it in gymastics. Now I have a break, I rest after the Olympiad. I don’t know how long it will last. Remember the situation with Alina Kabaeva, who retired and than came back again. I am not thinking about Rio yet. I even doubted if I went to London. Everybody should know how to retire in a good time.
Note, that Eugenia Kanaeva is the first double Olympic champion over the whole history of Rhythmic Gymnastics (Individuals Overall).
